I was the third of seven children.

We mostly attacked each other's toys.

Actually, that was really ages 3-4. By the time we hit five, we'd pretty much all figured out how unimpressed my mother was with tantrums.

That tends to be the case.

Come to think of it, she may also have been very unimpressed with violence.

Probably a lot of things would be better if we did that.

But they can't always be with us anymore.

I really wish I'd gotten a chance to be a mom. When she was still around.

Maybe it's mean to orphans, but I want my own kids.

You'd think the existence of the Barge would make death appear...not so final, in most cases.

She died in an attack that destroyed twelve planets and more than 99% of humanity. I think wishing for my mom back would be really selfish, and I'm not wishing for everyone back, because that would mean everything that happened over the last four years is just. I don't know. Completely frakking meaningless?

So I'm going to have kids. Sometime. Soon. And it's going to be good, because it'll make up even a little tiny fraction of how awful my life has been.

Everyone's lives.
