And yet it works more often than not. You're a seriously gentle person, Ned love; you're not someone that 'as to stop and talk yourself out of biting the 'eads off anyone that crosses you.

Many of our inmates are. So'm I, if I'm honest. You can't always take someone like that and expect 'em to be like you. So you find ways of lettin' the steam off so you can get to the part where everyone's willing to listen to the talk. That's where the punching comes in.

I try and only encourage it when it's fun for everyone involved. Like the CTS or a mutually agreed sparring match. Or a really good bar fight.

What's good about bar fights?

The camaraderie. That beautiful moment when an entire roomful of people 'old their breath and then boom! It's on! Oh, I love a good bar fight.

Yes, but bar fights. I mean, you lose points for bringin' guns and knives. There's an art to a proper bar fight. A kind of mobile, beer-marinated poetry. And it's a great way to make friends, too.
